The Inbetween

She felt as if she was straddling two landscapes. 

A foot in the past and a wanting to move into the future. 

Old ways holding firm, clinging onto her ankles. 

The new, whispering her forward. 

She knew it was time to take a leap. 

To make a jump into the unknown. 

But she felt the presence of the past, reluctant to loosen it’s grip. 

Each step forward she felt braver. 

Each step forward she felt this newness embedding deeper into her skin. 

Straddling two landscapes, ready to let go of the past and ready to step into the new.
